To keep your pool sparkling and blue, there are a few basic steps to take for maintenance. First, you want to make sure your pump is running efficiently and at full capacity. Your pump keeps the water moving, from the pool to the filter back to the pool. If your pump is not working properly or at all, then your pool is not being properly filtered or circulated.

Second, you want to make sure that your filter is also working efficiently and to max capacity. The filter removes dirt, debris, oils, lotions, etc. from the water. This ensures that you are swimming in clean pool water. Also, be sure to backwash your filter when required (details on this can be found in another blog).

Next, water testing! This is a simple task that can give you TONS of information about what is going on with your water chemistry (details about proper testing procedures and proper ranges in another blog).

Once you’ve completed your testing, compare your results to the proper ranges and add the necessary chemicals to keep the proper levels. Last but not least, is the physical labor of the cleaning. You want to make sure you are vacuuming, brushing, skimming, and emptying all baskets (skimmers & pumps).

Please be sure to enjoy after!
